Hey all!

It’s a lovely day and making it lovelier is this gorgeous Smoke Screen Eye Shadow Palette from Sigma Beauty.

Whether a makeup junkie or not, we all categorize makeup as, one tried by ourselves & rest, left to the trusted expertise of professionals.  As a makeup reviewer, I generally tend to try anything and everything that beauty world has to offer. Intimidated by the love of Smokey eyes, I had tried in-numerous looks by far and can definitely say that creating the most amazing eye looks is all about using right brushes, little bit of practice and a great eye palette.

Talking about the Sigma Beauty’s Smoke Screen Eye Shadow Palette, it consist of 12 eye shadows with cool undertones ranging from neutrals to eye catching hues that makes it inspiring rather than intimidating. The pop of blue is unexpected and looks beautiful.  This enables one to create numerous looks, from subtle neutrals in day to more playful and Smokey looks in night, by using just one single palette!

Many of you might have seen the swatches, I did from this Eye Shadow Palette on my Instagram and Snapchat story. Missed out the action! .. give me a quick follow on Instagram, Snapchat (ID: hina_rehan), Twitter and on my new Facebook page.

Packaging & Price
The Sigma Beauty Smoke Screen palette comes in a rectangular black box with a Sigma logo on the outer flap and 12 regular sized eye shadow cakes. It also has an outer covering with shade names and other details printed at it’s back. It has an in built mirror inside, which I feel is great, if compared with some popular palettes that miss out on this feature considering the heavy amount we shell out on them. The palette however lacks an applicator. Overall the palette is sleek and classy and is also travel friendly.

It retails for 39$ on Sigma Beauty website which approximates to INR 2,500. For me the price is quite a deal for 12 regular size eye shadows with wide color options.

My experience with Smoke Screen Eye Shadow Palette
Things that really impressed me about this eye palette are definitely the unusual color assortment and that too with no Parabens, Sulfates & Mineral Oils. Unlike other Smokey eye palettes that stick to a definite color family, this palette offers shades from warm and cool neutrals (Thunderhead & Haze) that are great transition colors, to shimmery subtles (Veiled & Opulent) and frosts (Nebula & Cinders).

I created a basic party look with this palette. The shades used, were:
  1. ·         Veiled: For highlighting the Brow bone and inner corners
  2. ·         Haze: for transition
  3. ·         Thunderhead: on crease line
  4. ·         Almost Jet: On the outer corner and lower lash line
  5. ·         Opulent: on Eyelid

I generally wear primer underneath but with this look, I skipped it intentionally, to test the staying power of the shadows and also the pigmentation and color pay off.

Pigmentation
As the swatches can reflect, the pigmentation of the palette on whole is quiet commendable. Just one swipe and you get an opaque swatch on your fingers. All shades are highly pigmented, especially the ones with shimmer and matte finishes. However I felt the pigmentation of Almost Jet (Black) is a little less as compared to others but is build-able.

As can be seen in pictures the color pay off is extremely good on eyes except the shade Opulent (on lids) that is little less pigmented, for which you need to wear a primer underneath and this look will be perfect.

Texture and Finish
Talking about texture, this palette has my heart!!💝 The shadows are not chalky or dusty but are instead smooth in their feel. The matte shades are extremely smooth and buttery in formula. Shimmer and frost shades are equally creamy and consists a good amount of shimmer particles which are not just limited to the upper layer.

I use Sigma’s Basic Eye Kit brushes to create this look. It was a delight to work with the palette shades as they blend extremely well on eyes, especially the matte ones (Thunderhead, Haze, Misty & Svelte). All shades transfer well on brushes and eyes and blend perfectly, be it shimmer, duo chromes or sheen textures. Applying shades Opulent and Ember with a finger rather than a brush gives a more perfect and opaque pay off.

Stay
Apart from all the good aspects, the shadows from this eye palette have a little fallout while working with. But once applied, the shadows just stick to your eyes with no fallout, fading or creasing. It has a good stay of 4-5 hours. Since it was without primer, using it will definitely increase its longevity.

Overall, I am quite happy with the Sigma Beauty's Smoke Screen Eye Shadow Palette and would recommend to all those who love creating fun smokey eyes.

Till next time
 Stay Happy, Stay Healthy

Much Love
Hina Rehan💜

Romancing the 70s - Ft. Zara x Shein

Bidding adieu to the festivities, I can finally claim some ‘me time’ to tune back into a normal life frequency. And what’s better to have it than hanging around with your squad,  feeding yourself with all the fun and giggles over good food and everything positive? Also this might be the first time I would mention about me being a meditating chic. Though I avoid talking about it often, due to the possible placebo effects it might have on my readers but, it surely holds the power to transform one’s life and soul, and that’s probably my way to rejuvenate and radiate with an inner glow. I would love to talk about it in detail some time later and for now, will get back to this space. Return of everything retro in street style fashion this year has made me loose my head with excitement. I confess to be a huge retro fan and its influence can be seen on my day to day styling. 70s and 80s were the eras where everyone talked about freedom and happiness and that reflected ...

L'oreal White Perfect Range - Night Cream Review (Part 2)

L'oreal White Perfect Night Cream Always elevated to know that I am blessed with a clear skin, it didn’t take me much time to have this feeling for granted. Although a morning ritual was followed religiously, my skin began demanding more attention, which paved way to a general cleansing and moisturizing in night. Slowly and gradually my products shifted from basic to those that addressed specific issues. I face extreme dryness and uneven skin tone and got L’oreal White Perfect Day and Night Cream to its rescue. I reviewed the Day Cream from L’oreal White Perfect Range in my last post ( click here to read ), so here follows my thoughts and first impression about the Night Cream. About L’oreal White Perfect Night Cream The White Perfect Night Cream protects and repairs the skin during night. It is said to reduce dark spots and is whitening in its function (though I am a non believer of skin whitening and all such marketing gimmicks). The L’oreal White Perfect Range...

Hot Fashion Trends on Indian streets for 2017

Just like every other year, 2017 brought with it a wave of new trends. Many of them were major ramp hits and others being the carryover of 2016. As we have made through the first five months, some of the trends got ditched, while rest turned out to be a rage in fashion industry and on streets. So, let’s take a quick check on the current hot favorite trends to pump up your wardrobe game! 1. Stripes all the way One staple trend that should make a place in your wardrobe instantly is stripes. A major hit of past three seasons, stripes are here to stay. Go for bankers or pinstripes, this one trend looks good in all kinds of fashion pieces, be it a shirt dress, a palazzo, culottes, top or a maxi.  Give it a more edgy look with a striped knot around the waist. While pastels being favorite, vibrant stripes were seen making its way on international ramps by Altuzarra and Proenza Schouler in their spring/summer collection 2017, earlier this year. 2.
