The Fusion Muse.

Hi loves,

Welcome back. Hope you all are doing great and enjoying the festivities. It feels great to share a brand new look with you all again.

Festive and wedding season come large, taking a toll on our bank balances. Everyone wants to be in their fashionable best, even if it comes with a heavy cost of designer and sparkly outfits. With no second thought, we take it to our heart.

It always makes me ponder about why is fashion so ‘intriguing’ that the world revolves around it. The business of fashion is as contagious as it can get, sparing not a single soul. Wild and versatile, it comes with no assurance to stay and can vanish in a blink, playing a peek-a-boo with those who wants to keep pace with it. Exactly when you feel your trend game getting strong with that dazzling Anarkali, you just got your hands on spending some 20 Grands, fashion will take a change, trolling on you. The chase game to jump on the bandwagon begins again!

As a Fashion blogger, I love following trends but not blindly. For me what comes above fashion, is style. Styling my outfits and experimenting with it to create some newfangled looks, excites me. The idea behind this look was to use already existing ethnic and western outfits from my closet to create an edgy style, keeping the festive season in mind. Bit uncertain initially, I totally loved how it turned out to be in the end. From its styling to makeup and hair, this would always be one of my most loved looks. Cherry on the cake was its selection as the best beauty and hair look in a campaign run by PLIXXO, powered by POPXO.

I chose a full fusion look, pairing a classic Patiala Salwar with a contemporary crop top to my ethnic jewellery and Dutch braids, giving me some desi gangsta vibes.

From the royalties of Punjab to Kareena’s look in JAB WE MET, the classic Patiala Salwar has been a trend that has travelled decades without losing its charm. The universal appeal of Patiala Salwar lies in the fact that it compliments all body types. Tall, short, pear shape or rectangle shape, it flatters them all. I opted for a pink Patiala Salwar with golden thread stripes and cuffed ends. This Salwar was a part of a wedding suit forgotten long over. It made a perfect match to my black crop top.

Crop tops are nothing new. They just got evolved from the evergreen Saree blouses (mommies got their eyes rolling!😈) to become a quintessential chic fashion staple. They are cute, they are peppy and they represent our generation’s attitude towards fashion. We don’t care what you think when we wear crop tops! If we love it, we flaunt it. Crop tops can be more versatile than you can think. Jeans, Shorts, Skirts, Palazzos, Culottes, Dungarees or a Saree! We have seen crop tops rocking with them all.

Fitted silhouette of a black plain crop top went well with the baggy Salwar and balanced the whole outfit. One can also opt for a Dhoti Pants in place of a Patiala to rock this look.

I generally believe in highlighting one aspect of my look by keeping others low key.  Contrary to this, I went for an equally bold makeup with heavily dramatic eyes and full face contour.  This was the first time, I opted for a professional makeup artist for  any of my looks. My lovely MUA and Hairstylist, Sheenu Arora, did a beautiful job on my eyes and my hair. Accompanying the ethnic Salwar was this gorgeous golden peacock necklace and huge round pearl ring from the SAIRAAH Jewellery collection, owned by my MUA herself. I will be attaching the links to her page and contact details at the end of this post.

For hair, I opted for two Dutch braids with middle parting. Needless to say, Dutch braids are enjoying their very own mane moment right now. Strongly supported by the Kardashian - Jenner siblings, Angeline Jolie, Vanessa Hudgens and our very own Superwoman, Lilly Singh.  This Dutch braid style looks exquisite and easy to maintain. Also it added an extra edge  that my ensemble needed.

So here was the first fusion look for this festive season. Do let me know if you want me to do more such looks in the comments below and I will be happy to style them.

L'oreal White Perfect Range - Day Cream Review (Part 1)

Image courtesy: Chic & Co. I came across the L’oreal's White Perfect Day Cream on my hunt to find something that can reduce pigmentation and imparts even skin tone with instant glow. Products that claim “Fairer” or “Whiter” skin do not attract me generally, for I stand by the belief that every skin is simply beautiful in its own way but a radiating effect in a cream is what I always desire for. A night cream along with it was a planned buy as I was looking to include serums in my night care regime from long. Since them both came in a combo offer, it was worth a buy! It’s been 4 months I have been using both the creams and feel to have invested enough time to come out with a genuine review. I am only talking about day cream in this post, for night cream deserves attention of its own, which will be showered in the subsequent article. About L'oreal White Perfect Day Cream "Tested on Asian women, who claim to notice one drop in melanin block, the pro...

Polka meets Cold Shoulder

Hey all, it’s been over a week since I started blogging and thought it’s high time to post my first outfit look and share with you all my personal style. It’s a fashion blog, after all!😃  Before moving ahead, I would really like to thank you all for loving my work and appreciating it. For an introvert like me, blogging was not an easy decision. The fear of being judged or criticized and many other trivial things, overpowered my desire to be a blogger. But as they say “Follow your passion and don’t let anyone limit your dreams!”, I decided to take a step forward and wrote my first blog post, a month back. Ever since then things slowly started falling in place. I feel overwhelmed every time when someone drops me a text on my Snapchat, Facebook or Insta praising my work. Let me tell you guys, it gives me such a self confidence boost and motivates me to do better.💖  Although a week old, I am still new in blogging world and learning gradually the different aspects o...

Innisfree White Tone Up Cream - Review

Innisfree White Tone Up Cream Review Korean brands have taken the global beauty industry by storm. Commonly known as 'K-beauty' in short, the effectiveness of this multi-step beauty regime lies in the belief that "beautiful skin is beauty ". Korean skincare regimens are more involved than your regular quick cleansing and night cream smear. Being a big skincare freak myself, I truly stand by the belief of South Korean beauty rituals. A habit that started with a pure fascination for sheet mask now extends to a 10 step skincare, followed religiously.   I bought the White Tone Up Cream from Innisfree without much thought, can say it was more of an impulsive buy since I have lately been hit with an urge to try anything or everything Korean, when it comes to skincare. Innisfree White Tone Up Cream Review About the Brand: Innisfree is a South Korean natural beauty brand, owned by Amore Pacific . The brand finds its inspiration from the...
