Sassy in a Corset & Skirt - The Fusion Muse 2

Hey my lovely chiclets!

As many of you know I created a fusion look last month which you all appreciated (click here to read it).  I was so overwhelmed with the positive feedbacks and the praise showered, that it motivated me to create a second fusion look, dedicated to the wedding season. I am equally excited to share it since its very close to my heart and is by far my best look. So here it is!

Wedding season has knocked our doors again! Reflecting the atmosphere of traditions, cheer and enjoyment, the dazzling decorations, plethora of national and international cuisines, exceptional bride and groom wear, trendy and vibrant ethnic dresses, Indian weddings ooze out the rich, regal and grandeur feels.

For a fashion lover, weddings are a great medium to experiment, examine and showcase their best wardrobe sense. Being an amalgamation of tradition and glamour, Indian wedding outfits are designed to be extremely beautiful and attractive, complimenting the wedding atmosphere.

What is exciting about the current wedding wear trend is the mix and match of Indian and western fashion sensibility. Combining the elements of both East and West, one can implement western styling in their traditional outfits. It’s also a great way to experiment, if you run short of a wedding dress and have an immediate function to attend. What I created for the second part of the fusion series is assembling different western elements with a twist of ethnicity for last minute outfit fix ups.

Strapless corsets and crop tops that work as a blouse and maxi skirts in varied flairs – welcome the new multi-tasking fashion trend. Giving the traditional Indian Lehenga - Choli a twist, I paired a bling corset tube top from Koovs with a floor length maxi skirt in gunmetal color for a modern and sassy look. Having bought this corset top over a year ago, I simply love its versatility. It can be teamed up with a Saree, Skirt, Lehenga, Dhoti or even a Sharara. What sets it apart is the blue stone work which looks vibrant and totally stands out.

To give it a more Indian feel, I opted for a Bindi and Nath. This was the first time I sported these two iconic Indian beauty elements in my life. I might confess that the combo of Corset- Skirt and Bindi – Nath incepted in my mind, before I was a blogger and I found it to be one bomb look. It exudes out a true fusion and can make you grab eyeballs at any occasion you choose to flaunt it.

The whole trend of corsets as a part of Indian wear was started by Bollywood. Sophie Choudhary walked for Mandira Wirk’s collection in gold Corset Lehenga with Dupatta in one of Indian Bridal Fashion Weeks.  The corset nicely frames the feminine torso and adds a flattering silhouette when paired with flowing bottoms like Lehenga or Skirts. You can add a Dupatta or Stole for a more modest look.

Since my corset had heavy work, I went for a maxi skirt with subtle sheen. After the storm of heavily bouncy skirts, we are witnessing the crop flairs returning back in trends (though they never disappeared, just took a backseat). The Gunmetal color goes great with all color palettes and thus makes it a wise choice for an Indian occasion. Yet again, my both the pieces are versatile enough to go with variety of garments and cuts.

Coming to the Makeup, I collaborated again with the talented MUA, Sheenu Arora, and as evident through the stills, she has given her best. Giving equally bold and vibrant blue black eyes, she gave me an otherwise subtle makeup with nude lips and light contouring.  Eyes complimented my attire and enhanced the overall beauty.

Jewellery
To showcase a variety of looks, I paired three different kinds of jewellery for you all to take inspiration from. The pieces are from the SAIRAAH Collection.

Look 1: Dainty Nath and Bracelet for a clean look.

Look 2: Going gypsy with oxidized Jewellery for the much trending ‘Banjaran’ look. A statement necklace, nose pin and a disc ring. Corset and tube tops give a great neckline for a statement necklace.

Look 3: Oxidized Silver earrings with an oxidized disc ring

So here was my take on the wedding attires for the second part of my fusion series. I would love to hear your feed backs and thoughts over it as this look is personally very close to my heart.

It’s a fashion blog, after all!😃  Before moving ahead, I would really like to thank you all for loving my work and appreciating it. For an introvert like me, blogging was not an easy decision. The fear of being judged or criticized and many other trivial things, overpowered my desire to be a blogger. But as they say “Follow your passion and don’t let anyone limit your dreams!”, I decided to take a step forward and wrote my first blog post, a month back. Ever since then things slowly started falling in place. I feel overwhelmed every time when someone drops me a text on my Snapchat, Facebook or Insta praising my work. Let me tell you guys, it gives me such a self confidence boost and motivates me to do better.💖  Although a week old, I am still new in blogging world and learning gradually the different aspects o...

Basic skincare routine in your early 20s

Why a beauty regime in my 20s, when my skin is young and healthy naturally! Research shows that two structural proteins, collagen (responsible for keeping skin firm and tight) and elastin (responsible for skin’s flexibility) starts decreasing as soon as you touch 25 years. A skincare routine set  early and followed religiously, when  your skin is healthy and quite youthful naturally, will help you combat the early signs of ageing and will set a foundation for glowing and nourished skin in your 30s, 40s and 50s. While you need not to get fancy about products addressing specific issues (until its acne) at this stage, some basic affordable products along with few natural household ingredients are everything that you need for an effective routine. Know your skin Before you step on to nail a beauty regime, it is must to know your skin type and the products that will work best on it. Skin products in market cater to needs of three different skin types, dry, oi...
