Denim on Denim Trend Ft. Ed Hardy x Forever 21

Hi loves!

Wish you all a very Happy Independence Day and Krishna Janmashtmi! Hope you all are enjoying the two occasions to fullest.

There is nothing we love more than keeping ourselves updated with hot fashion trends. Long hours of net surfing, stalking our favorite celebrities and fashion icons, long chit chats over phone about trends breaking the internet, feeling the need of revamping your wardrobe every two months ‘coz you feel ughh! So outdated….endless sprees to malls and our favorite shops!! There is so much we put in to be in our fashionable best.  But while it gets little impractical to glorify every fad story ...some trends really grab an eye and stays for long in fashion world and on streets.

The Denim on Denim trend aka The Canadian Tuxedo trend (flashback 90s!) made a HUGE comeback last year and proved to be a fashion dip of 2017, after stripes. Considered a faux pas for so many years, this trend was suddenly on everyone’s vogue list. First seen on Selena Gomez, Cara Delevingne, Rihanna and on other A-listers, the trend this time is more color complimenting. But the shift can really be attributed to the rising clad of fashion influencers who hosted fun and unique styling ideas, making the trend look cool and nowhere near to 90s.

Double Denim has always been one tricky trend. When done correctly it looks amazing, but one misstep and you can end up looking like 2001 version of Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake. That’s a reason, many give up on it before even trying the look, because they are wary about where to begin and style.  But with certain rules to follow, and with right items in the closet, the Double Denim trend can make you look fresh and contemporary and is much easier to pull on than you think.

# Denim Rule One
The most important and golden rule of the Canadian Tuxedo trend is not to cover yourself entirely in one single shade or wash and end up looking like you have been engulfed by denim. Choose a top and bottom in different wash or tones of blue. You will still look coordinated without being too matchy.

I paired a dark denim bottoms with a light tone chambray shirt from my brother’s wardrobe. Who says you can only raid closets of same sex? Look around my loves, wardrobes of our male counterparts have so much style and fashion inspiration hidden and undiscovered.😉 The only knack you need is to style them correctly.

#Denim Rule Two
To ace the Double Denim look you should not add any denim accessories to your outfit. Just say NO to your denim clutch, handbag or shoes. Like seriously! What were you thinking?

#Denim Rule Three
It doesn’t need to be all blue, try adding neutral shades into your outfits. Like nudes, whites or blacks. These bring out the details of the denim outfits.

I choose going for a nude color bodysuit under my denim shirt. Nothing can beat the smooth chic look of bodysuits. It hugs the body like a glove and gives a flattering silhouette. It is a perfect element to go with your boyfriend or skin fit jeans. More points, if its made a part of layering ensemble.

# Denim Rule Four
When wearing the Canadian Tuxedo trend, it’s all about breaking it up. Add a contrast by different color accessories coordinated with other elements of your outfit. Go for a minimalistic approach. Less is more. A sleek clutch or statement earrings is all you need to make friends with. Over accessorizing can make you look shabby.

Since, my look was more of an easy and comfy one which can be carried on any casual summer day, I focused on going with no accessories. I paired the outfit with golden sneakers that went well and was coordinated with my nude bodysuit. For a more sophisticated and chic look, you can opt for heeled pumps.

#Denim Rule Five
Layer your Double Denims. Layering is the best way if you want to add some more edge or details to the look. The best part about double denim trend is that you can layer it either ways you want. Layer your denim top or shirt under a shrug or vest if you are easing your way into the trend or feel being too contemporary. Layer it over any solid color tee to draw more attention to the denim pieces. Either ways.. you win!

#Denim Rule Six
Pay attention to the fit of both denim elements. Proper and slim fit denim pants look best. If you are opting for baggy fits, make sure that they are baggy in right places and have some shape. Balance the loose fits with a fit top or shirt and vice versa.

If opting for layers, make sure your inner silhouette is more fit and flattering which will balance the open and loose fits of your outer layers.

#Denim Rule Seven
Its all about balance and mixing correct tones. A light pale shirt looks great with dark denim pants, shorts or skirt. When wearing Double Denim, lighter shades of it draw attention to the parts they cover, while dark washes create a slimming effect. Its all about knowing your body and flattering it.

I opted for a more neutral and subtle makeup look. If you really want to draw attention to any particular part of your styling, go subtle on other elements (Pro tip). For hair, I choose to leave them natural and untamed. The black velvet choker and my bodysuit added the much needed chic factor to the whole outfit and did their job well. Overall, this trend was worth styling and gave my personality a fresh change.

So, what’s the delay girlies! With the above seven pointers and gathering some inspiration from my look, I am sure anyone can pull on the much hyped Denim on Denim Craze like a pro. I will be looking forward for you all to try on this look. Don’t forget to tag me and let me be a part of your Double Denim style story.

Be Safe with PEE SAFE #saynotodirtytoilets

Hey people Today I will be talking about something very different from what I usually document on my blog. This is an awareness post concerning the hygiene and safety of women and is highly recommended. It’s in collaboration with PEE SAFE. Public Toilets! Two words that make us cringe, every time our bladder commands to get empty. Playing in our minds a gross and stinky sight. Poor or no infrastructure, zero cleanliness, jammed pot holes, dirty toilet seats and oh! that bad odour... are some common reasons to avoid using public toilets. Fear of catching infections from dirty toilets, make us hold on to our bladders while we hunt for much “cleaner” restrooms in a mall, multiplex, hotels or until we don’t step in the comfort of our own houses. The usage of toilets by several people that belong to different backgrounds and hygiene practices makes an individual come in contact of toilet infections. Since women get in direct contact of toilet seats, they are at the ...

L'oreal White Perfect Range - Night Cream Review (Part 2)

L'oreal White Perfect Night Cream Always elevated to know that I am blessed with a clear skin, it didn’t take me much time to have this feeling for granted. Although a morning ritual was followed religiously, my skin began demanding more attention, which paved way to a general cleansing and moisturizing in night. Slowly and gradually my products shifted from basic to those that addressed specific issues. I face extreme dryness and uneven skin tone and got L’oreal White Perfect Day and Night Cream to its rescue. I reviewed the Day Cream from L’oreal White Perfect Range in my last post ( click here to read ), so here follows my thoughts and first impression about the Night Cream. About L’oreal White Perfect Night Cream The White Perfect Night Cream protects and repairs the skin during night. It is said to reduce dark spots and is whitening in its function (though I am a non believer of skin whitening and all such marketing gimmicks). The L’oreal White Perfect Range...

Innisfree White Tone Up Cream - Review

Innisfree White Tone Up Cream Review Korean brands have taken the global beauty industry by storm. Commonly known as 'K-beauty' in short, the effectiveness of this multi-step beauty regime lies in the belief that "beautiful skin is beauty ". Korean skincare regimens are more involved than your regular quick cleansing and night cream smear. Being a big skincare freak myself, I truly stand by the belief of South Korean beauty rituals. A habit that started with a pure fascination for sheet mask now extends to a 10 step skincare, followed religiously.   I bought the White Tone Up Cream from Innisfree without much thought, can say it was more of an impulsive buy since I have lately been hit with an urge to try anything or everything Korean, when it comes to skincare. Innisfree White Tone Up Cream Review About the Brand: Innisfree is a South Korean natural beauty brand, owned by Amore Pacific . The brand finds its inspiration from the...
