Just like every other year, 2017
brought with it a wave of new trends. Many of them were major ramp hits and
others being the carryover of 2016. As we have made through the first five
months, some of the trends got ditched, while rest turned out to be a rage in
fashion industry and on streets. So, let’s take a quick check on the current
hot favorite trends to pump up your wardrobe game!
One staple trend that should make
a place in your wardrobe instantly is stripes. A major hit of past three
seasons, stripes are here to stay. Go for bankers or pinstripes, this one trend
looks good in all kinds of fashion pieces, be it a shirt dress, a palazzo, culottes,
top or a maxi. Give it a more edgy look
with a striped knot around the waist. While pastels being favorite, vibrant
stripes were seen making its way on international ramps by Altuzarra and
Proenza Schouler in their spring/summer collection 2017, earlier this year.
2. Flashdance and One Shoulder Cutout
This flattering trend has become
a personal favorite among fashion designers. Revolutionizing the cold shoulders
phenomena is the one shoulder top or dress. From strategically placed cut outs
to flashdance shoulders, this adds an uber-chic vibe to your personality.
3. Asymmetric hems and layers
Asymmetric hem lined tunic goes
great with palazzo, patiala, leggings and culottes. Choose from light
breathable fabrics for that cool summer style. You can also pair an asymmetrical
jacket or cape over a kurti and palazzo for an instant ‘ethnic yet chic’ look.

designer collections in coming seasons.
4. Mules
While pumps being the wardrobe
essentials, mules have took over the fashion streets this year. Choose from an
array of flat mules, heeled mules, wedge heel mules, low block - heel mules,
espadrille mules and sneaker mules. They come in a variety of colors and
fabrics including suede, satin, embroidery and canvas. Complimenting both your
westerns and Indian outfits they are must haves this season.

silver jewelry, be a fashion forward and add statement fringe/tassels earrings
to your collection. These Instagram worthy statement pieces goes great with all
kinds of clothing. We have seen over dramatic versions of these on ramps. Pair them
with all sorts of traditional outfits or with your favorite western piece for
an instant quirkiness.
6. Yellow blast

love, for; you are going to witness all shades of it in this season. Opt for
vibrant and mustard hues for some cheerful look or go for lighter shades in
lemon, pastels and butterscotch for a more positive and peaceful impression.

2017 by designers like Divya Reddy, Bhairvi Jaikishan, Naushad Ali and Jayanti
Reddy.
7. Words matter
From phrases in 2016, slogan tees
this year will be more of a one-word game. Choose a word that defines you and
sport it in your tees, bottoms or dresses. Bold, bright and embroidered one
word definers are stylist’s favorites right now.
Predicted by top fashion experts,
the glamorous trend from 80’s is a decade dip that you can’t choose to ignore.
From full sleeves, high shine fabrics, body conscious fits, tie up bows, frills
& ruffles, draped volumes, silhouette – enhancing nipped waists tied up
with giant belts, fuller and voluminous sleeves to flirty hemlines, the list
just seems endless to play with. It’s time to embrace all feminine details in
your dresses.
This artistically inspired
concept was seen on the international ramps this year, by designers like
Valentino, Roksanda and Celine, Marni and numerous others. Taking inspirations
from strong art references, you have a variety to choose from painted print
works and patterns. Go an extra edge and unleash the artist inside, by creating
DIY’s in your favorite fashion clothing and take over the streets by your own
piece of art.
Sleeves will be the show stoppers
of the whole fad story this year. Opt for sleeves with slit for a top or go for
floor length sleeves for your lehenga blouse or a gown. Exaggerated and ruffled
versions of it looks great when wore over a jeans or dress. Long sleeves with
bell hems look good on tops and kurtas. You can also experiment sleeve hems
with bright colored fringes, giving it a joyful look.
Above all, this year will be all about being you. Showcasing your personality in your own unique style oriented pieces through your wardrobe is what stylists are emphasizing on.
